Rita & Matt Payne in the Farm Truck - Growing Paynes located in Mustang, OK.jpg

Rooted in Heritage. Grown with Heart.

From dairy cows to flower fields,
Growing Paynes is a living story of
resilience, reinvention, and rural beauty. Nestled in Mustang, Oklahoma, our farm has been lovingly passed down through seven generations of the Wiedemann family—each one adding a new chapter
to the legacy.

What began as a dairy farm growing silage, alfalfa, and wheat evolved into a cow-calf operation managed by Rita’s father and now her sister, Kelli. Today,
Rita’s husband continues the tradition
by running stocker cattle. While the cattle still roam the fields, you’ll also discover something new: a vibrant vegetable, fruit, and flower garden, seasonal produce stands, and one of Oklahoma’s most charming backdrops for outdoor photography.

This is a place where farm life meets floral beauty. Where the past is honored and
the present blooms.

From Backdrops to Blooms
A Farm Built for Photos, Families, and Flowers

In recent years, Rita — fifth-generation farmer and mother to the sixth — has lovingly transformed part of the original Payne family farm into a multi-use destination. One of the earliest structures on the property, the original milk barn, has been converted into a seasonal farm stand where you’ll find fresh-picked vegetables, farm-grown bouquets, and space for creative experiences like build-your-own bouquet bars.

Photographers are drawn to the natural charm of Growing Paynes—open fields, flower tunnels, seasonal displays, vintage tubs, and a cozy white barn. Whether you're capturing mini sessions or hosting full-day styled shoots, the farm offers a warm, welcoming setting for every season.

Flowers That Tell a Story
Grown with Intention. Shared with Joy.

The Growing Paynes flower patch is a seasonal showcase of Oklahoma-grown blooms—zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, celosia, snapdragons, and more. Every flower is grown with care using sustainable practices and is available for U-pick events, photography sessions, bouquet bars, and workshops.

Our build-your-own bouquet experiences are simple, creative, and low-pressure—perfect for flower lovers of all ages. Whether you're here to design, photograph, or simply wander the fields, there’s a place for you in the garden.

Farm to Table Roots
Fresh Produce from the Garden

Before flowers, there were vegetables—and fresh produce continues to be a vital part of the Growing Paynes story.
The garden produces a rotating selection of seasonal crops including:

  • Tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and green beans

  • Sweet corn, watermelon, cantaloupe

  • Fresh herbs, okra, and other garden favorites

Produce is available at the farm stand located in the former
milk barn and during scheduled market days. In the near future, online ordering and seasonal pre-orders will be available for convenient local pickup.

Legacy in Every Season
Farming for the next generation

This farm is more than a piece of land—it’s a living thread that connects generations. From Rita’s great-great-grandparents
to the newest family member, each generation has shaped
and stewarded this space with purpose. The heart of Growing Paynes lies in its ability to hold tradition while blooming into something new.

Here, history is honored through every row of crops, every sunflower stem, and every photograph captured in the golden light. We’re proud to share this evolving story with our local community and visitors from all over—because some places
are more than destinations. They’re part of something bigger.
